GBP/USD nosedived to $1.3348 as a transmissible and out-of-control variant of Covid-19 is spreading.

EUR/USD
The single currency slammed to $1.2185 amid risk-off mood boosted the haven demand for the US dollar.

 

GBP/USD
The Sterling nosedived to $1.3348 on comments from PM Johnson who announced that a transmissible and out-of-control variant of Covid-19 exists, imposing tightened restrictions on travelling.

 

USD/JPY
The Japanese Yen percolated around 103.45 against the dollar on Nikkei Asia's report Monday that Japanese PM Suga told Ministry of Finance officials to make sure USD/JPY doesn't fall below 100, attracting the attention of speculators looking to test the government's resolve.

 

AUD/USD

The Australian dollar hammered to $0.7561 as a new coronavirus outbreak the northern beaches of Sydney involving 83 confirmed cases in the past week triggered multiple inter-state border closures.

 

USD/ZAR
South Africa's rand plummeted to 14.75 per dollar with investors rushing for its relative safety as many countries tightened COVID-19 lockdowns.

 

USD/MUR
The dollar-rupee stayed put at 39.80(selling) on the local market.
