Daily Security Best Practices

A few simple habits, followed consistently, can do more to protect your wealth than any single piece of software. We encourage our clients to incorporate the following best practices into their everyday routine, across their accounts, cards and devices.

  • Security Checklist

    Everyday Account Habits

    • Protect Your Credentials
Never share your password, PIN, or One Time Password (OTP) with anyone, including individuals claiming to represent AfrAsia Bank.

    • Use Official Channels
Access your accounts only through our official Online Banking Portal at afrasiabank.com (Always check the spelling carefully) or by visiting one of our branches.

    • Be Wary of Urgent Requests
Exercise caution if you receive offers, prize notifications, or refund requests that require you to act immediately.

    • Verify Payment Requests Independently
Confirm unfamiliar payment requests directly with the intended recipient using independently verified contact details, rather than those provided in the message.

    • Monitor Your Account Activity
Review your account transactions regularly and report any unfamiliar or unauthorised activity immediately by calling your Relationship Manager.

    Credit Card Security

    • Cover the Keypad
Shield the keypad with your hand when using ATMs and payment terminals, to protect against hidden cameras and card skimming devices.

    • Inspect Card Readers
Check for loose, damaged or unusual attachments before inserting your card at an ATM or an unattended payment terminal.

    • Watch for Small, Unfamiliar Transactions
Fraudsters often test a stolen card details by making a small purchase first. Report any transaction you do not recognise, however small.

    • Prefer Contactless Payments and Virtual Cards
Whenever possible, use contactless payments or virtual cards as they reduce the risk of your card details being copied, compared with swiping or handing over your physical card.

    • Set Transaction Alerts and Limits
Enable notifications for every transaction and set appropriate daily spending limits to help detect unauthorised activity promptly.

    • Report a Lost, Stolen or Compromised Card Immediately
If your card is lost, stolen or you suspect it has been compromised, contact your Relationship Manager or our 24/7 Contact Centre immediately on (230) 403 5570.

    • Shop Only on Secure Websites
Before making any online shopping, ensure the website address begins with “https://” and avoid saving your card details on websites you rarely use.

    • Never Share Your Card Details
Never disclose your card number, PIN, CVV or One-Time Password (OTP) to anyone, including callers, online sellers or individuals claiming to represent AfrAsia Bank.
