Fundamental News

EUR/USD

The Euro surged to $1.1675 as markets continued to price a more hawkish ECB path, with expectations for a September hike supported by persistent inflation and elevated energy prices.

GBP/USD

The Pound Sterling climbed past $1.3600 after UK CPI rose to 2.9% in July, matching expectations but remaining above the BoE’s 2% target.

USD/JPY

The Japanese Yen posted modest gains to $158.70 as Japan’s July exports surged 23.2% YoY to a record, strengthening the case for further BOJ normalization.

AUD/USD

The Aussie Dollar edged higher to $0.7115 despite weak jobs report as RBA Deputy Governor Hauser had warned that another hike remains possible if inflation risks intensify.

USD/CAD

The Canadian Dollar continued on its uptrend, reaching $1.3800, as crude oil prices surged and FOMC minutes showed that officials favored a rate hike if inflation failed to cool.

USD/ZAR

The South African Rand got a boost at $16.10 after data showed July inflation cooling for the first time in five months, helped by lower fuel prices.

USD/MUR

The Dollar–Rupee edged lower to 47.35 (selling) this morning.
