EUR/USD
The single currency plummeted to $1.2260 as Eurozone Core Production Index for December soured to -0.3%.

 

GBP/USD
Sterling plunged to $1.3537 amid speculation swirled that the Bank of England could bring in sub-zero benchmark interest rates earlier than expected to counter the economic hit from a third coronavirus national lockdown.

 

USD/JPY
The Japanese Yen hammered to 104 per dollar on escalating Sino-American tensions in the wake of the US stock indexes delisting China’s telecom companies, in response to their alleged links with the Chinese military.

 

AUD/USD
The Aussie dollar nosedived to $0.7723 after Australian Prime Minister Morrison expressed concerns over the worsening covid situation in the state of Queensland while announcing measures to curb the virus outbreak.

 

USD/ZAR
The South African rand cascaded to 15.40 following South Africa's health ministry reported more than 21,000 new infections late on Wednesday, taking confirmed COVID-19 cases to date to 1.15 million, the most in Africa.

 

USD/MUR
The pair stayed put at 39.83(selling) on the local market.
