The single currency clung to gains at $1.2202 amid soft U.S dollar conditions on concerns about the prospects of a U.S. government shutdown.

 

GBP/USD
Pound catapulted to $1.3540 as risk appetite rose on signs that a long -elusive Brexit trade deal was imminent between the UK and the European Union.

 

USD/JPY
The Japanese Yen seesawed between gains and losses near 103.57 versus the greenback caught in the cross currents of investors’ attempts to unload safe havens on upbeat Brexit tones, and hint of more U.S. stimulus.

 

AUD/USD
Aussie soared to $0.7584 boosted in part by signs that a small COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney would be contained.

 

USD/ZAR
South African Rand held on to gains at 14.59, showing surprising resilience in the face of external and domestic pressure.

 

USD/MUR
The dollar-rupee idled at 39.83 (selling) on the domestic market.
