Race to AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open 2015 - First Round

Josianne Bax won the lady category, while Hubert De Speville and Jean-Francois Leclezio were the two best ball team winners.

The first round of the Race to AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is the first of a series of five tournaments that will be held before the main competition from 7-10 May this year.

The player who wins each tournament, men and women combined, will win a place in one of the Pro-Am Tournaments to be held during the week of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open 2015.

Players will accumulate points over the 5 tournaments based on their results in each tournament. The winner of the Race to AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open 2015 will be the player who has accumulated the most points over the 5 indicated tournaments, men and women combined.

This winner will be awarded a challenge floating trophy, as well as a place in one of the Pro-Am tournaments to be held during the week of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open 2015, and will be offered free green-fees to all the Race to AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open 2016 tournament.

The results for the first Race to AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open are as follows:

About AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open:

The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is the first ever tri-sanctioned golf tournament endorsed by the Sunshine, European and Asian Tours, all of whom are founding members of the International Federation of PGA Tours.

The Race to AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is made up of 5 tournaments as follows:

  • BEL OMBRE Saturday, Jan 31
  • BEL OMBRE Saturday, March 14
  • ANAHITA Saturday, March 28
  • BEL OMBRE Saturday, April 4
  • BEL OMBRE Saturday, April 25

Some facts about the main tournament:

  • The main tournament is expected to draw top performing golfers from each of the three Tours (Sunshine, European and Asian Tours)
  • The tournament will be played at the Heritage Golf Club from 7-10 May, 2015. 
  • The total prize fund of €1 million available to the professional golfers is the highest prize purse ever to be paid out for a tournament held in Mauritius. 
  • The Heritage golf club, was recently ranked amongst the top-10 golf courses in Africa by global news broadcaster CNN, was chosen as the perfect venue for the three Tours to come together.
