Fundamental News

EUR/USD

The Euro fell to $1.1625 as the US dollar rallies as the Strait of Hormuz shutdown sparks energy-price surge, raising prospects of higher FED rates for longer.

GBP/USD

The Pound Sterling traded broadly unchanged at $1.3456 despite hawkish remarks from BoE policymaker Megan Greene, who advocated faster rate increases.

USD/JPY

The Japanese Yen traded slightly lower to 159.90 against the US dollar despite heightened concerns about verbal intervention by Japan’s Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama.

AUD/USD

The Australian dollar was almost unchanged at $0.7170 following GDP data showing Australia’s economy who expanded by 0.3% quarter-on-quarter in Q1 2026, down from the 0.8% growth recorded in the previous quarter.

USD/CAD

The Canadian dollar showed little response to surging crude oil prices and is trading at $1.3856 this morning. 

USD/ZAR

The South African rand maintained around 16.27 versus the greenback amid stronger gold prices.

USD/MUR

The Dollar–Rupee shot up to 48.19 (selling) this morning.
