MUR 1.5 Million Raised For During The Movember Charity Oscar Night

AfrAsia Bank and AfrAsia Foundation successfully concluded their cancer awareness campaign on Friday 25 November by attaining their aim of raising MUR 1.5 million during the ‘Movember Charity Oscar Night’ held at The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa Mauritius, Balaclava.

The amount raised will be used for the purchase of a cancer screening machine, worth MUR 2.5 million, which is a first in Mauritius. Vijit Yadav, Chief Operating Officer of AfrAsia Bank, remitted a cheque of MUR 1.5 million to Rajen Gangoosingh, Secretary of Link to Life Mauritius. This amount combines a contribution of MUR 960, 000 from AfrAsia Bank and the remaining balance was graciously raised through the unflinching support of generous clients and partners during the auction night.

The cancer screening machine, co-funded by Ducray Lenoir, will help in the early detection of cancer and contribute towards decreasing the death rate due to this disease.

Cancer is the 3rd cause of mortality in Mauritius and at AfrAsia Bank, we believe in devoting time and money in a cancer awareness programme which will help the population be more at ease in taking preventive measures and also fight the taboo of being a cancer victim. This is yet another step in our fight against cancer and we shall pursue our efforts in the future.
