AfrAsia Bank’s staff joins the ‘Movember’ movement to raise cancer awareness among men

The men involved in this movement, dubbed the ' Mo Bros', are challenged to grow moustaches during the thirty days of November to spark conversations around them with the aim to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths. Besides annual check-ups, men are encouraged to be aware of family history of cancer and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Movember, is however not only for men. Women Movember, also called ‘Mo Sistas’, play a vital role in the success of Movember by supporting and encouraging men in the awareness campaign to be involved to the fullest.

Movember supports health programs around the world to fight prostate cancer and testicular cancer, amongst other forms of cancer affecting men. These programs , led by the Movember Foundation , focus on awareness , education , living with and beyond cancer research to realize our vision of an unprecedented impact on the face of men's health.

MOVEMBER - A GLOBAL MOVEMENT

Since its humble beginnings in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement inspiring Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate across 21 countries worldwide, from Moscow to Rio de Janeiro, and everywhere in between. Since 2003, over 4 million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas around the world joined the movement, raising USD $559 million. While significant steps have been taken toward achieving the vision of an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health, there is still much to be done.
