Income Tax Refund: Fake e-mail

As part of the Bank’s responsibility to alert our customers on current frauds and scams, it has been recently noticed that a fake e-mail is being sent to taxpayers on behalf of the MRA. The e-mail which bears the subject “Income Tax Refund” which originates from the e-mail address “e-services@mra.govmu” contains a spoofed URL link.

The MRA strongly advises the public to ignore the fraudulent e-mail and not access the link as it may contain a malware. The MRA remains available on the 207 6000 if members of the public have any doubt about the authenticity of an e-mail, letter or telephone communication from or on behalf of the MRA and/or its officials.
