Hennie Otto signs Ambassador Deal with AfrAsia Bank

The 38-year-old Otto will become the global brand ambassador for the financial conglomerate and title sponsor of the upcoming tri-sanctioned AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Otto looks forward to representing AfrAsia Bank Limited in the first-ever championship co-sanctioned between the European, Asian and Sunshine Tours in May 2015.

As part of the initial one-year sponsorship, Otto will also host golf development clinics on the island and in South Africa.

AfrAsia Bank has had a long association with the sport since 2007 in order to promote Mauritius as a golfing destination and simultaneously provide its clients with lifetime experiences. As the bank continues to build bridges between Africa, Asia and the world, this partnership looks to extend the AfrAsia brand visibility throughout the sport.

“AfrAsia Bank Limited has a strong association with golf in Mauritius as the sponsor of the AfrAsia Golf Masters and AfrAsia World of Golf. They are dedicated to golf development in Mauritius and have taken their support to the next level with the sponsorship of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Development is close to my heart. I believe we, as professionals, have a duty to give back to the sport that gives us so much. It’s a privileged to align with AfrAsia Bank to grow the sport in Mauritius and globally. Plus, “AfrAsia’s motto is ‘Bank Different’ and everyone knows I’m not your run of the mill kind of guy, so I think we are a great match.” said Hennie Otto, Lumenrock International Sport Management player.

Chief Executive Officer of AfrAsia Bank, James Benoit, said the Bank welcomed Otto’s signing:

"We believe that sports have a special power to reach people and bring them together. As we continue to build on our sporting heritage, AfrAsia Bank is proud to be associating itself closely with Hennie, a great golf player, known and admired worldwide. This partnership driven by the fact that Hennie has shown great potential and represents the values we embrace, is a decision for the long term as we further emphasize our strategy to develop our golf related partnerships. He is an outstanding golfer, having a passion for excellence and meeting the challenge in even the most trying of circumstances. We certainly look forward to seeing his swings during the upcoming major tournament AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in early May." James Benoit commented.

Otto, who is currently recovering from a back injury he incurred during the True Thailand Classic is also sponsored by Anahita Mauritius, another backer of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

The South African will lead a field of world class golfers from the European, Asian and Sunshine Tour at the prestigious Heritage Golf Club from 7-10 May. The total prize fund of €1-million is the highest purse ever to be paid out for a tournament held in Mauritius.
