The euro shed some gains after weaker-than-expected June retail sales highlighted softer consumer demand
Fundamental News

EUR/USD

The euro shed some gains to $1.1520 after weaker-than-expected June retail sales highlighted softer consumer demand, while improving yield spreads helped to provide some support.

GBP/USD

The Pound Sterling stayed on the defensive at $1.3450 as fading yield and UK inflation-growth concerns weigh on sentiment, while dollar strength amid geopolitical risks limit its recovery.

USD/JPY

The Japanese yen struggled to gather some momentum at $158.35 as weak June household spending data reduced expectations for a near-term BoJ rate hike, weighing on the currency outlook.

AUD/USD

The Australian dollar remained subdued at $0.7025 ahead of US payrolls despite stronger-than-expected China trade data, with July exports and imports beating forecasts, while focus shifts to the RBA's next week meeting.

USD/CAD

The Canadian dollar found some support at $1.4015 from higher crude prices and energy inflows, though the USD/CAD pair remained elevated as Fed rate-hike uncertainty weighs on market sentiment.

USD/ZAR

The South African rand steadied at $16.35 as softer oil prices and easing inflation concerns support risk sentiment, while markets await US-linked data for clues on the Fed’s policy path.

USD/MUR

The Dollar–Rupee edged higher to 47.79 (selling) this morning.
